ECE Westworks moved into Colston Tower, one of Bristol’s landmark office buildings in the centre with views over the Bristol harbourside & beyond, in October 2017. Faced with a blank canvas we quickly got to work with the focus of creating a relaxed and welcoming working environment for the team and visitors alike. Spatial configurations were designed to create interactions and maximise collaboration, and the various breakout spaces allow independent or group working (and other discussion!) in a range of scenarios. Materials and products were chosen where possible with ethical and sustainable benefits; for example, local craftsmen were commissioned to create a feature screen made from expanded metal and the flooring tiles were sourced from Interface, who we work closely with and take inspiration from how committed they are to the goal of sustainability.
The office lighting and plants are supplied from local businesses and are carefully designed to reduce energy consumption and increase staff comfort and welfare, as well as natural materials being used for office desks and breakout areas. Keeping biophillic principles at the forefront of our design decisions promotes well-being and sustainability, thus creating an enjoyable and inspiring space for employees and guests.
